Howdy, street artists.
Today I'm here to bring you street art from Rome!
According to some visitors, the street art presented in Rome is one of the most dynamic and interesting in the whole world. Italians represent their ancient story and the peculiarities of the cultural and social context they live in through street art.
This art was usually associated with vandalism, and now it is taking over the country. In fact, Graffiti dates back to the Roman Empire, and the word itself comes from the word graffiato, which means scratched.
In the last two decades, Italian artists have struggled but succedded on putting Rome's street art in the level of those in cities like Paris and London.
Best Italian street artists
Marco Burresi, or "Zed1", is an Italian artist widely recognized for his surreal murals of awkwardly looking plump-face figures and awe bizarre imagery. Zed1 creates artwork which conveys humorous and dark messages of social and political commentary. He's also recognized for his incredibly detailed work.

"Never2051" is an Italian artist known for his mind melting and visually compelling monochromatic murals, combined with a very strong abstract imagery and amazingly skillful line work. Created with nothing more than paint brushes and, in most cases, only black and white colors, his paintings of numerous curved lines turn into wonderfully detailed abstract characters and shapes.

"Vesod" is an Italian artist notorious for his geometric figurative work of exploding colors and deconstructed forms, painted in perfectly balanced compositions. Using only cans of spray-paint, this artist creates intense and masterful images of high contrast and staggered motion.

Ostiense
Ostiense is an area in the south metropolitan area of Rome, Italy, well recognized by its rich street art and graffiti works. It is a lively and modern place, having nothing to do with the ancient part and romantic version of the city.
Artists visit this part of the city, not only to paint, but to find some artistic inspiration, which is huge. The graffiti combines with the local clubs located there, which gives the area life and beauty.
The British Phenomenon called Banksy
I talked about this artist on the previous post. He is mysterious, he is anonymous, but his artwork graces walls all over the world with his provocative graffiti. He has been able to produce pieces of work that combine dark humour with social and political commentary. And Rome is no different.
It's very difficult to tell by looking into a painting if it is a Banksy work or a copy, as he is famously recognized worldwide, and many people try to copy him. Nonetheless, it must be a pleasure looking at his works in person.
As you understand, Rome is rich in street art, and its history gives a wonderful opportunity for Italian artists to produce great pieces of work. If you visit the street in the future, don't forget to appreciate the beauty of the streets.
Until then, a better post is coming, next time.
