STREET ART - ENGLAND

Howdy, street artists.
I’m hereby to write about art presented in the streets of the beautiful city of London. If there’s one city that can be described as one of the richest in terms of art in its streets, that city is London. It has one of the biggest and best collections of non-authorized street art in the world. From miniature bronze statues to painted murals, London “breathes” art.

One of the things that distinguish London from the rest of the worldwide cities is the artists that display their work in the streets. A website called visitlondon.com listed 15 of the best street artists with works in London. The list includes names like Stik, ROA, C215, Phlegm, Space Invader, Lily Mixe, Jonesy, Ben Wilson, Cranio, Eine, Cityzen Kane, Conor Harrington, David Walker, El Mac and Portuguese Vhils. Visit ldngraffiti.co.uk for more street artists in London.

Describing some of them, Stik is a British graffiti artist known for painting stick figures. A piece of art in Acton named “Mother and Child” is a 125ft mural recognized as the tallest piece of non-authorized art currently in London.

Vhils is a Portuguese graffiti artist known for plastering walls using a jackhammer, producing great 3D works. An example of one of his works is located in the Hewbett Street in Shoreditch London, a street that I will talk about below.

Probably the most famous street artist around the world is a British artist identified by the name of Banksy. Banksy’s work combines humour with graffiti, and also political and social commentary. He executes pictures of people and animals in unexpected and surprising behaviour. Most of his works are not visible in the streets of London anymore due to his unpopularity (it does not seem like, but he is not loved by everyone) and hard-hitting critics.

The best street to visit in London to see and appreciate street art is Shoreditch, located in the East London. Very popular for the displays of art from the best street artists in the world. Tours are available for a more careful visit of the street.

Recently, artist Pegasus illustrated David Bowie in a wall, paying tribute to the late rock star who passed away on 10 January 2016.

I found very interesting that art gives such beauty and life to streets of a city like London. You can judge that by visiting the city and finding out for yourself.
Until then, a better post is coming, next time.
